Websites, mobile apps, design systems, platforms, and tools for mission-driven teams.
Highlights from 21 years of building design systems, platforms, and tools for mission-driven organizations. My code has run everywhere from the International Space Station to Antarctica.

Built a modern CSS design system and led front-end development for the new Firefox.com, the main product website for the Firefox browser.
What I did
Built a design system of more than 70 components and 25 page templates, which powers hundreds of pages across 19 locales
Wrote the CSS architecture on native Grid, Flexbox, and custom properties, with no preprocessor, supporting both legacy and modern browsers
Led front-end development on a team of 4 developers and 6 non-developers, working with Django, Wagtail CMS, and TypeScript
Delivered pages with a Lighthouse accessibility score of 100, including the Firefox What’s New page, which reaches more than 40 million people with each new browser version
Built with CSS · TypeScript · Django · Wagtail CMS · d3.js
Led front end infrastructure work for NASA Worldview, an open source web app for browsing more than 1,000 layers of global satellite imagery.
What I did
Cut release cycles from 2 to 3 weeks down to 15 to 30 minutes with a new CI/CD pipeline, automated tests, refactored build scripts, and containerized deployment on AWS
Shipped the Worldview 2.0 release, modularized the codebase, and built a proof of concept for moving the build to Webpack
Designed and built a feature for navigating satellite imagery and tracking natural disaster events
Mentored 2 developers on a front-end team of 4, and worked directly with scientists in Antarctica
Improved the open source contributor experience with updated documentation, a pull request template, and a code of conduct for a project that now has more than 1,200 GitHub stars
Built with JavaScript · OpenLayers · d3.js · Webpack · Docker · AWS · CI/CD
Built the design system, data visualization tools, and web apps that help journalists and the public understand climate change, working on a team of 4.
What I did
Picturing Our Future: Developed the React app for Climate Central’s sea level rise visualizations of coastal cities worldwide. Climate Central reports that 4,000 media outlets covered the project.
Infographic generator: Built an internal d3.js application that Climate Central uses to produce infographics for media partners
Coastal Risk Finder: Worked on the rebuild of Climate Central’s interactive map of coastal flood risk across the United States
React Native design system: Designed and built a component library for use across the organization, with one codebase across iOS, Android, and web
Built with React Native · Expo · React · Next.js · d3.js · SVG · Google Maps API
Built a dashboard that streams data from the International Space Station in real time.
What I did
Built a React and d3.js application for real-time data streaming from research hardware on the station
Built with React · d3.js · Real-time data
